BU announces plans to launch itself into the US college elite

Boston universities are on a bit of a building frenzy and BU has just announced expansion plans-PDF of its own. They are less to do with adding buildings and more about adding people.

Over the next 10 years, Boston University aims to hire up to 150 new professors (including 20 to 30 to do interdisciplinary research) and raise faculty salaries…all told, an investment of $1.8 billion. The Globe says this is the first major new program since BU’s president, Bob Brown, started in 2005.
