Since I started this Blog, the problem of staying informed and not getting completely lost within the jungle of eTOC alerts, RSS feed etc is turning into a nightmare. Is there hope? I just discovered yahoo’s pipes project (https://pipes.yahoo.com): little modules can be assembled by simple drag&drop and connected to each other to generate (in a very visual and object-oriented way) your own piece of software! One can generate, without any programming knowledge, applications that take input from users to combine feeds and filter, analyze and classifying them, etc, etc: amazing!

When will we have a journal home page that will be fully customizable by including a selection of “widgets” à la Google or assembling “pipes” à la Yahoo…?
