Call for submissions: Open research data resources

UPDATE: In parallel with a recent Nature Genetics Editorial, we are now extending this call to encourage submissions on compelling resources or technologies that advance the use of open linked data models in promoting the FAIR Principles. In particular, we are inviting submissions that present compelling applications of open linked data models, which promote the use of, compliance to, and validation against existing community data standards.  The deadline for submissions has been extended to 30th September 2017.

Special Article Collection on
Open research data resources

Organizers:

Patricia Cruse (Executive Director, DataCite)

Michael Huerta (NLM Coordinator of Data & Open Science Initiatives, NIH)

Mark Thorley (Head of Science Information, NERC)

Susanna-Assunta Sansone (Honorary Academic Editor, Scientific Data; Associate Director, University of Oxford e-Research Centre)

Scientific Data is inviting submissions describing novel data resources, or significant and recent extensions to existing data repositories. We welcome submissions from a wide range of resources, including (but not limited to), those on Scientific Data’s Recommended Repository list*.

Submissions to be considered as part of this special collection should follow our ‘Article format’.  Acceptance for publication will be based on the originality of the report, alongside demonstration of the positive impact the resource has had on data preservation, data reuse or knowledge generation for the community it serves. Submissions may, for example, describe how a repository complies with the FAIR principles1 or encourage researchers to follow the open data principles.  Articles may focus on the resource, or on significant and recent updates.

To be considered for publication among the first papers in this collection, manuscripts should be submitted to the editorial office by 31st July 2017. Submissions after this date are welcome and may still be considered for inclusion in this special collection on a case-by-case basis.
