Editing…Live On Stage

Not the most sexy of straplines, but bear with me. The incomparably wonderful Old Operating Theatre, housed in an old church tower near London Bridge, have an unusual literary event coming up. Future Human asks you to send in a short story for consideration by a panel of judges, who will then edit your tale in front of an audience. Stories must be on the theme of ‘transhumanism’ – the enhancement of the human physique or mind through technology – and no more than 350 words.

This most unorthodox of writers’ workshops will be followed by a debate on the same subject. The panel is impressive: Cory Doctorow (Boing Boing), Gwyneth Jones (author of Bold As Love), Ian Watson (co-author of the screenplay for A.I.) and Matthew de Abaitua (author of The Red Men).

Story submissions should be sent to info@badidea.co.uk by September 3.

Future Human at the Old Operating Theatre, September 10, 7pm-9pm. Tickets cost £12 on the night. Event organised by Bad Idea magazine.
