While the big beasts of Westminster gather round for a Cabinet reshuffle (with implications for DIUS and science governance – stay tuned), another important political gathering is happening nearby.
The Politics of Climate Change meeting is a rare chance for international big-hitters to discuss the raw politics of climate change. How ‘the present economic crisis can lead to a business revolution in low-carbon industries and how the state can best play an active, incentivizing and facilitating role in this process’. The list of speakers is impressive: CEOs, secretaries of state, an ex-Prime Minister, professors, lords and a Milliband. (But, oddly, only two women.)
I could go into details, but here’s a familiar face to describe the conference aims.
Now, here’s the best bit. The meeting is being live blogged, including interviews with some of the key players. Keep an eye on the homepage for all the day’s action.
