Mechanotronics has been one of my favourite words that i learned during this conference.
Chris Rahn is a professor of mechanotronics and is making soft robotic arms based on the octopus. These arms are driven by pneumatics and can writhe around in all directions, pick things up, extend and contract. Not what i expected to see at a conference that i thought would be all about semiconductors, quantum dots and nanotechnology.
