Nature’s London Offices…From Above

Yesterday, I toured two new(ish) tower blocks operated by the Nido student accommodation company. The first was a nearly complete, 31-storey highrise in Spitalfields, with jawdropping views of the City of London. The second building was Nido Kings Cross, a pair of startling blue towers that most visitors to the Nature offices in London will have seen looming large on a nearby rise.

From the top, you get a neat view of King’s Cross and north London, stretching away to the twin hills of Hampstead and Highgate. You can also peer down on Nature’s offices, as shown in the photo at top. To get your orientation, the dominant cream and black building is Kings Place, home of the Guardian and scene of many Nature Debates. Step down and left, and the long row of converted warehouse buildings is where you’ll find Nature. One floor down, second window from the left is my old window, where three years ago I would watch construction of the Nido towers while pondering what functionality we should build into Nature Network. I miss that view.

More images from both Nido buildings can be found on my Flickr stream.
