Science Online 2013: Monitoring & Analyzing one’s Effectiveness on Social Media.

From the 30th Jan -2nd Feb, writers, scientists, journalists, communicators and more headed to North Carolina to attend Science Online, the annual conference that “facilitates conversations, community, and collaborations at the intersection of Science and the Web.”

This year there was a supplement to the programme; for the first time Science Online hosted be pre-conference Skills Workshops, offering attendees and the public a chance to focus on specific areas that interest them.

Lou Woodley (nature.com’s Communities Specialist) and Laura Wheeler (nature.com’s Communities Coordinator), hosted one of these pre-conference workshops on: Monitoring & Analyzing one’s Effectiveness on Social Media.

The aim of the workshop was to look at how to set goals for your social media efforts, and then which tools to use to determine whether you’re achieving those goals. Step-by-step tool guides were also provided for attendees, looking at some of the tools discussed in more depth. You can find out more about the workshop, as well as other related content here.
