Warning! This will drive you mad – and you will love it!

Scientific Reports Eye Sci is online now at www.nature.com/eyesci

It’s not often we make such a claim at Nature Publishing Group, but we think that you will forgive us just this once. Scientific Reports (the open access journal) has just launched ‘Eye Sci’ and we’re positive you’ll be addicted to this exciting, intriguing and shamelessly frustrating challenge in no time at all.

The goal is simple; identify 50 scientists in our virtual lab. It couldn’t be easier, right?  Well, no…Each scientist is represented by a cryptic visual clue, so it’s really tricky.  There is also a further twist; clues can relate to either the scientist’s FULL name(s) OR to their invention, law or discovery and we don’t tell you which!  Eye Sci is definitely infuriating, but we hope it will be compelling, rewarding and, ultimately, a lot of fun!

The game is undeniably highly addictive and we apologise in advance for getting you in trouble with your boss or keeping you up all night to get ‘just one more answer,’ but if after a week of no sleep you need added incentive to keep going, then help is at hand.  Register 25, 35 or the full 50 correct answers (make sure you are logged in) and, in addition to extensive bragging rights, you will be entered into a prize draw.  Top prize is a MacBook Air, but there are also Kindle Fire HDs and 500 subscriptions to Nature to be won.  The competition runs until October 31st, 2013 and full Terms & Conditions are on the website.
