Despite its quirks, I personally use Tranche every day to obtain the latest publicly-available proteomics raw data. The new, unnamed repository mentioned above is simply a lab FTP site that as of today contains exactly 1 raw data file obtained from outside of EBI. While I firmly believe in the idea of open data sharing in proteomics, I do not understand the basis for the level of enthusiasm and commitment shown in this article and the associated editorial for a not-yet-extant resource.
