Welcome to the new Nature Network! Things look a little different around here now so don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit disoriented or if you’re new and aren’t sure where to start.
We want you to get the most from the site so if you’d like any help, do take a look in the feedback forum. If that still doesn’t resolve your query, send the team an email at network@nature.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
We’ve already written briefly about some of the new features, and every day this week we’ll be walking you through the features in more detail on this blog, so please check back regularly for some handy tips and tricks.
We hope you enjoy the new site!
The Nature Network Team
PS. The “how to…” blog post for the new Q&A section in now live…why not give it a try and see if the community can come up with an answer to your question?
Um… er… hello.
Well the front page looks very spiffy I must say. Glad to see the blogs look the same as before… although the blog sign-in page seems to have changed to orange.
Off to fiddle around with it a bit I guess.
Yay! Welcome to the other side, Richard. Have fun exploring!
Yay! It looks like I’m already causing problems – 500 errors all over the place. I’ve reported it as a ‘known bug’.
I’ve just seen, thanks Bob. Let’s continue the conversation in the feedback forum to keep all the bugs in one place.
keep all the bugs in one place.
Hah! That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
Good job, Lou. Congratulation!!, in all forms of emotional.
Seeing as I can never find the feedback forum…
Trying to edit my profile seeing as many of the links are in that awful textile format, and I can’t. Keeps telling me, helpfully, that an error has occurred and I should contact a system administrator.
Thanks, Alejandro.
Richard, the feedback forum is here and was also linked to in the post above. I’ll have a look at the problem with editing your profile and get back to you with a solution.
Ah, that’s another thing. What’s with the brown link text without underlining? That’s so bad.
It’s not just me, by the way. Jenny can’t edit hers either.
The hyperlinks are already on the “to fix” list – I agree that they could be a lot more obvious!
When you go to edit your profile, you’re presumably clicking the “edit profile” button at the top right? Are you then trying to edit the synopsis or individual sections from the left hand panel? And which browser are you using?
Overall pretty. Now to pick nits. When editing my profile in the employment section, I am forced to enter both a start and a termination date for my current job. I was hoping I could simply leave the to: field blank, or check a “currently employed” box. Perhaps there should be some option for that?
Really impressed.
Hope you have a good evening, wherever in the world you are.
Hi Jon – we have a fix for the problem with not being able to list your current job. It should be implemented soon.
Thanks for the positive feedback, Scott.
I don’t like it. 🙁
Sure, it looks spiffy and polished with the new color scheme, but I can’t find anything that I was accustomed to.
BAWL!! :’(
Kausik, don’t panic – we anticipated that people might feel a little lost for a couple of days, which is why we’ve put together the “how to…” blog posts. We featured the new Q&A section yesterday and in the next couple of days will be covering all other aspects of the site. Do persevere – I think you’ll find a lot of the new features, especially things like the new activity streams, will make keeping up to date with content a lot easier.
Man those forums are difficult to navigate.
Anyway. Yes, of course I clicked on the ‘edit profile’ button. I’m now in the User Profile Synopsis page. My tags have no commas, which triggers the whole ‘50 character’ limit thing. So I delete the tags. I hit update.
I get
‘[An error has occured. Please contact system administrator or try later.]’
and
$user.firstName $user.lastName’s profile, just like Steffi.
So that’s server-side, nothing to do with my client, surely.
