Saturn moon erupts

More pretty pics of Enceladus, the ocean-spewing moon of Saturn, have been released by the Cassini imaging team, following a close pass by the spacecraft in November (Press release, Wired, Science News). Here is an image of the water shooting from “tiger stripes” near the moon’s south pole. Cassini found some 30 erupting fractures — 20 more than before — and the latest infrared measurements suggest that the hottest of the fractures could be 200 degrees K at the surface (-73 degrees C).
